December Update About Su Beng

As usual Su Beng has been keeping a busy schedule but on December 10th he was checked into a hospital in Chiayi after he experienced some trouble breathing and had a minor heart attack. He also had some water in his lungs.

On December 7th he went down to Chiayi for speaking engagements and screenings of the documentary, "Su Beng, The Revolutionist."

Q&A after the film screening.

On 12/9 he was at Nanhua University (南華大學 成均館) for a screening of "Su Beng, The Revolutionist."

Unfortunately when Su Beng checked into the hospital on December 10th, he was initially in the ICU, but he was soon able to breath on his own.

Here's a Chinese language news article from the day Su Beng checked into the Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital: http://www.peoplenews.tw/news/2c7f0b5a-88fa-4421-b440-cf98ba644f22

During his stay there he had a number of visitors and an outpouring of support from friends far and wide including the Taiwanese American community in California- as seen below. The Chinese characters seen on the signs below "加油“ and "咁吧地" (which is a use of Chinese characters to phonetically represent a Japanese phrase) can both be loosely translated as words of encouragement i.e. "to keep going." The film "Su Beng, The Revolutionist" is also going to be screened in Northern California on December 19.

On December 17th Su Beng was able to return to Taipei where he entered the Taipei Medical University Hospital (台北醫學大學附設醫院).

He's had a quite a number of visitors during his stay there.

On December 19 he did a live chat from his hospital room with the audience at a screening of "Su Beng, The Revolutionist" in San Jose!

I've been in touch with Su Beng's assistant Bin Hong today (December 25th) and his condition has stabilized. Hopefully he will be discharged on Monday.
